Car Insurance in New Hampshire

New Hampshire is one of the few states that does not require drivers to buy auto insurance, but that does not mean you are off the hook.

Financial responsibility still applies

Under RSA 264:20, proof of financial responsibility means being able to pay damages of $25,000 for bodily injury or death to one person, $50,000 for two or more people in one accident, and $25,000 for property damage.

Uninsured motorist coverage

When you do buy an auto policy in New Hampshire, RSA 264:15 requires it to include uninsured and hit-and-run motorist coverage. If you choose higher liability limits, that coverage rises to match. Umbrella policies must also provide matching uninsured motorist limits unless you reject it in writing.

Why most drivers still insure

Without a policy, you are personally responsible for damages after an accident. We compare carriers to find auto coverage that protects your assets, and we can bundle it with your homeowners policy.
